personal development
At Tomlinscote, we recognise that our students will, one day, be entering a world beyond secondary school that is ever-changing and developing. We believe it is our mission to not only deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, with strong outcomes that open doors, options and choices to our pupils; it is our moral duty to ensure that our students grow into happy, confident, resilient young people that can thrive in the adult world and make a positive contribution to society. This includes developing and demonstrating our core Tomlinscote values of excellence, character, community, perseverance and progression in addition to the characteristics and life skills to be able to lead a fulfilling and thriving future.
We have strategically planned and structured our Personal Development Programme across all year groups to ensure all pupils have access to the broad range of opportunities available and can experience the wealth of enrichment, activities and trips to broaden their horizons and encourage their aspirations.
Please see the various maps and documents in the downloads section below to find out more detail about our Personal Development Programme here at Tomlinscote.
Our vision statement for Personal Development:
The aim of our personal development programme at Tomlinscote is to help pupils develop into confident, capable and curious individuals who are able to navigate the challenges of modern life.
It is our ambition to create a journey through school that enables all students to fully embrace all opportunities, activities and experiences on offer.
Our goal is to help them to build the knowledge, character, resilience and practical life skills they need to thrive, one day, beyond Tomlinscote.
The 'Personal Development Programme' Curriculum:
In addition to the many different opportunities, enrichment activities and experiences on offer, the students at Tomlinscote all take part in the 'Personal Development Programme' which is delivered through the use of morning tutorial time. One session a week is dedicated to an ongoing programme which covers several themes and topics. This programme has been designed and structured in a coherent way in order to enable students to build their skills and knowledge throughout Years 7-11 in order to support them through all the key transition points of secondary school. Please see the Personal Development Plan curriculum maps for each year group in the downloads section below.
