Year 10 “Big Interview”
At Tomlinscote, we are relentless in ensuring that our students are fully prepared for their next steps, beyond school. As a school, our overall mission is to ensure that we create well-rounded, employable young people with a core set of transferable skills that they can take into the world of work. The Year 10 "Big Interview" is an activity that we run annually at Tomlinscote in the Summer 2 term which gives our students yet another opportunity to prepare themselves for the post-16 choices that they will make in the autumn term of Year 11.
This activity involves all children in Year 10 taking part in a twenty minute, one-to-one interview with a business professional throughout a particular day. Last year, in July 2025, we had nearly 40 business volunteers who participated in the interviews which were coordinated with a local business enterprise charity called CMP (Community Matters Partnership). This initiative aims to provide our young people with an incredibly valuable experience which will enable them to discuss their careers aspirations, their strengths, how they can evidence particular employability skills and what their intended post-16 plans are at this point. The business volunteers provide personalised feedback to the children which they receive in due course after the interview.
Please see the downloads below for more information regarding last year's event (July 2025).
This coming academic year 2025-26, the Year 10 "Big Interview" is running on Thursday 16th July 2026.
