How to Apply for In-Year Admissions

How to Apply

Applications for an in-year place should be made directly through Surrey County Council's In-Year Admissions process. https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/schools/admissions/in-year

  • Parents and carers can apply at any time during the school year.
  • The form to use is the CMA form.
  • Applications are considered in the order they are received, and offers are made as soon as a place becomes available.
  • We always act in the best interests of the child.
  • Once a place has been allocated and the family has confirmed they wish to accept it, the child is expected to start as soon as possible to minimise disruption to their education.
  • Please do not withdraw your child from their current school until you have secured and accepted a confirmed place at Tomlinscote School or another school.
  • If you require a paper application form, please contact Surrey County Council Admissions directly.

Additional information

The person making the application must have parental responsibility for the child.

If your circumstances are complex or require further explanation, please include a brief covering letter with your application.

You will also need to provide:

  • Two proofs of address.
  • Any relevant supporting evidence, such as educational or medical documentation.

What happens next

We aim to process applications and notify you of the outcome within 15 school days.

If a place is offered, it must be accepted within two weeks. If it is not accepted within this timeframe, the offer may be withdrawn.

If we are unable to offer a place

If we are unable to offer your child a place:

  • Your child's name will be added to our waiting list, which is ranked in accordance with the school's Admissions Policy.
  • Waiting list positions may go up or down as new applications are received and assessed.
  • Waiting lists are cleared at the end of each academic year. If you wish your child to remain on the waiting list, you will need to submit a new application for the following academic year.
  • You have the right to appeal against the decision not to offer a place. Information about the appeals process is available on our website.

All applications and offers are shared with Surrey County Council Admissions within two working days.
