Train to Teach
Thinking of training to teach?
Tomlinscote School is partnered with two initial teacher training (ITT) hubs with links across Surrey and Hampshire. As a partnership school of both providers, we provide teaching placements and mentoring for trainees across a variety of subjects.
University of Reading (PGCE route)
Tomlinscote School is part of the Court Moor Partnership which delivers, locally, the in-school placements for the University of Reading PGCE course. As a trainee at the University of Reading, you will be placed in two local schools within the partnership. South Farnham SCITT (Secondary SCITT and PGTA routes)
Tomlinscote School is also part of the South Farnham SCITT partnership. South Farnham SCITT delivers Ofsted outstanding school-based initial teacher training for primary and secondary teachers across London and the South East. Their vision is to recruit and train the outstanding teachers of the future, bringing stability and continuity to our local primary and secondary school workforce.
South Farnham offer the opportunity for trainees to undertake either the SCITT route (school-centred initial teacher training) or the relatively newly established PGTA (post-graduate teaching apprenticeship) route. Please see the information below for further detail on each route.
Through an extensive and diverse partnership of schools, primary and secondary trainees are placed into geographically organised cohorts across the London boroughs and South East, minimising travel for trainees and allowing applicants to train and work in their local community.
Their teacher training programmes have children and young people’s best interests at the core. Working together, and as one, we strive to develop best practice so that pupils across the region experience teaching of the highest quality, underpinned by outstanding research-based training and development opportunities for all.
