Your child may have informed you that the school was hit by lightning and excessive rainfall during Period 4 today.

Unfortunately, the lightning has damaged our bell system at Tomlinscote and significantly the fire alarm system across the whole school.

Consequently, I need to close the whole school on Monday for all students and staff. I appreciate that this may cause some disruption to families but I need time to assess the situation with this important health and safety issue.

I will communicate again on Monday to keep everyone up to date with the situation.
