We offer all students an excellent understanding of the hairdressing industry in a unique, nurturing learning/training environment. The students benefit from a personal and supportive, yet challenging, environment to work towards their qualifications as they practice on real clients in a work based environment. Our students begin to work on clients immediately and are assessed accordingly to their own individual pace. The salon is approved and supported by L’Oréal professional education and technical support as well as equipped using the latest equipment and professional products.
So, how are we different form other colleges?
As you are probably aware, other local colleges offer Hairdressing courses. Our offer is VRQ Level 2 & NVQ level 3, gaining both qualifications within the two year study programme. This means that you will have an advantage within industry/employment, unlike the other colleges that only provide Level 1 and Level 2 to their students within a two year study programme. Elsewhere, if students wish to continue onto a Level 3 qualification, they will be required to complete this as a mature student for an additional year as evening school. Whereas, at Tomlinscote, our Level 3 qualification is studied in the second year of the hairdressing and barbering programme and will give you the opportunity to obtain skills in colour correction, creative cutting and barbering, including traditional hot towels and wet shaving. Both qualifications are internationally recognised, enabling the learner to explore endless opportunities within the hairdressing and barbering industry, worldwide.
Due to limited spaces, we can accommodate up to 15 students. This enables the learner to benefit from having the opportunity of one to one tuition and a personalised approach to the delivery of the qualifications. Each qualification consists of practical observations and external examinations.
On completion of the qualification, the stylist will seek employment within industry. There are many career opportunities a junior stylist or barber in a salon, cruise ships, Our past students have gained employment in successful salons, including The Velvet Rooms - Chobham, The Venue - Frimley, Anis Barbers - Camberley and The Cutting Edge - Cornwall
